Exam Application Process
- Determine whether you meet the eligibility requirements listed above.
- Register at PMI.org.
- PMI membership is $129 (+$10 US handling fee) so you’re better off becoming a paid member so you can pay the member’s rate for the test later.
- PMI membership also entitles you to free digital copies of the PMBOK and discounted rates on the physical PMBOK.
- Complete the online PMP application at PMI.org and submit it.
- In about 5 business days, you’ll receive an application approval email from PMI.org.
- Login to PMI.org and pay the test fee.
- If all goes well, you will receive a confirmation email with a test code number and scheduling information.
- Go to www.prometric.om/PMI to schedule the exam.
PMP Exam Breakdown
The test consists of 200 multiple-choice questions. Exam time is 4 hours.
Out of these 200 questions, 25 are considered pretest and are not counted as part of your score.

- Math-related: 25 questions
- Non-math related: 100
- Randomly generated: 50 questions
